About Kevin O’Neill
Kevin O'Neill is a native son of Virginia. He was born and raised in Northern Virginia and has lived in Williamsburg for the past 12 years.
Kevin graduated from Syracuse University in 1992 with a dual degree in history and broadcast journalism. While at Syracuse, Kevin spent two years as President of his college fraternity (Lambda Chi Alpha) and also served one year as the Speaker of the Student Government Association. From 1988 to 1990, Kevin served as the Syracuse Orangeman mascot and traveled with the football and basketball programs.
Kevin graduated in the top 10% of his 1999 law school class at the College of William & Mary. While in law school, Kevin served as a Notes Editor of the Law Review and had a Note published on the need for greater local control over the process of locating cellular towers in their communities. Kevin then served a one-year federal clerkship in Richmond with Judge David G. Lowe, a federal magistrate for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Since September 2000, Kevin has worked as an attorney in the public policy department at Patton Boggs LLP in Washington D.C. Kevin lives in Williamsburg and commutes to Washington. Kevin’s legal practice has focused on representing a wide variety of colleges and universities, hospitals, municipal governments, transportation authorities, associations and alliances, and corporations that have matters pending in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. In December 2006, Kevin was elected to the partnership at Patton Boggs.
Kevin has been heavily engaged in Republican politics at the national level and in support of federal candidates for office in Virginia. In high school and college he interned for both the Young Republicans National Office in Washington D.C. and the Syracuse district office of Congressman Jim Walsh (R-NY). In 2001, Kevin was part of a Patton Boggs legal team that served as the outside counsel for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. In 2004, Kevin was one of the nation’s youngest Bush-Cheney Pioneers, which represent the top level of fundraisers in President Bush’s reelection campaign. In 2005, Kevin was a founder and initial president of a PAC that represents the interests of college fraternity and sorority students, which form the largest network of values-based organizations on today’s college campuses. In 2006, Kevin was a significant fundraiser for the reelection campaign of Senator George Allen.
About Patty O’Neill
Patty O’Neill was born in New Jersey and then later grew up in Fort Myers, Florida. Patty graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1991 with a degree in organizational communication. While at UCF, she served as President of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1993, Patty received a master’s in higher education administration at Florida State University.
Patty O’Neill has enjoyed a steady career of escalating responsibilities at the College of William and Mary. She served for seven years as Director for the Fund for William and Mary, where she led a team of fundraising professionals and took part in the successful completion of the College’s $500 million capital campaign. In 2005, after several years of attending classes in between her professional duties, Patty received a doctorate in educational policy, planning and leadership from the College of William & Mary. In summer of 2007, Patty began work as the Director of Development for William & Mary’s School of Education where her responsibilities involve raising funds for the completion of the school’s new building on the site of the former Williamsburg Community Hospital.
About Our Family
Kevin and Patty are parishioners at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Kevin serves as an officer for the alumni association of the College of William & Mary’s law school. Patty serves as an officer on the board of directors for a national foundation devoted to developing the leadership skills of women. In November 2002, our son John Patrick O’Neill was born. In March 2007, Kate Violet O’Neill joined the family.
In our spare time as a family, we enjoy attending college and professional sports, reading and travel.
